One of my dads friends from university contacted him a while ago to take a picture of himself and e-mail it to him. He had started a project where he was compiling photos of all students in that graduating year and making an interactive video out of it. Considering my dad's generation is pretty technology stagnant, I found this to be pretty impressive. So my dad asks me to take a pic for him and I literally take 40 pictures for him (it's funny how guys become girls when it comes to taking self photography!) and he ends up sending 3-4 over for the guy to pick.
So he showed me the video that the guy compiled. It wasn't the most flashy thing in the world - wmv file with fading pictures and reminiscent music in the background. But it was interesting the way he set it up with the before and after shots of all the students. I got to see my daddy as a skinny 25 year old young adult! Gosh they all looked so youthful. All the women in his class are pudgy and unrecognizable now. The men you can still faintly see the resemblences but the women, wow!
It's been 30 years since he started university with those people and the video the guy made was to commeorate the 30 year anniversy since the day they started school. It was titled.."in memory of our university years"
It just made me think about the concept of aging even more. I wonder what it feels like to look at these pictures and see yourself 30 years younger. Do you feel sad? happy? reminiscent? regretful? wishful? Proud? mmm...then it got me thinking about what it would be like for all of our generation 30 years from today.
will all the ladies be fat? the men successful (and fat), will the most creative leader step up and try to re-establish connections with every individual in their class? my dad's classmates are all over the nation - some in China, some in the states, some in Europe, some in Canada...will we all disperse years from now?
Another reminder that time is the sum of every minute of your life...
